Welcome back to one of our favourite blog series, where a different member of the team is introduced on the second Monday of each month. In these posts, you can find out more about the hoodies behind Zerocopter.
This month we have talked with Delia Sirbu, Sales and Marketing Specialist, who is taking care of all marketing-related activities at Zerocopter.
Please tell us a bit about yourself, who is Delia Sirbu?
Hi, my name is Delia, and I am a Sales and Marketing Specialist here at Zerocopter. I'm from Romania, but I moved to Groningen, the Netherlands in 2015 to do my master's. I am a very curious person and love learning new things. I'm also a foodie who likes to cook a lot. I've always loved food, but I only started to cook and play with recipes when I left for university.
How would you describe your job title in a couple of words?
Zerocopter is not your usual security provider, which is why I enjoy my job so much! I am taking care of everything marketing related, from creating awesome campaigns to showing our audience that security solutions should be easy, fast, and reliable, to gathering results and starting all over again. This is more complex than it sounds, but it makes this job so fun.
What do you like about working as a Sales and Marketing Specialist at Zerocopter?
One of the things that I like about working in marketing at Zerocopter is that the textbook or any rigid type of approach doesn't work here. You should always think out of the box to at least try to explain a bit of our DNA. Because this is who we are, as a team, and as a company - very passionate about the security industry, trying to do good in the world while having fun.
How did you end up at Zerocopter?
It was meant to be, haha - I was managing a small restaurant before joining Zerocopter that was about to go bankrupt due to the Covid period. A friend of mine found this job opening and immediately sent it to me, saying it would be perfect for me. He was right!
If you could trade positions with anyone in Zerocopter for a day, what would it be and why?
I would like to trade positions for a day with everyone on our team! I would really like to see how a day at Zerocopter looks from everyone's perspective. I am pretty sure I would be fascinated and would learn a lot from all of them.
What have you learned from working at Zerocopter?
I could write a book about how much I have learned in the past 2 years. But some of the things that I see daily are that communication and keeping an open mind are essential. That things are not always as you think they are. Do you really think you are secure? Think again. That this industry is all about the people. That sometimes, people tend to overcomplicate things, and most of the time, the answers are pretty simple.
What resources( books/podcast/courses etc) would you recommend to someone (new) in this industry?
When I started at Zerocopter, my colleagues recommended reading Helpful Hackers by Chris van't Hof. Now, I recommend it to everyone interested in this industry. You can even find it for free online!
When was the first time that you heard about the term “bug bounty” or “RD/CVD”?
The first time I heard of these terms was when I applied for the job here.
What is your favourite stereotype about the hacking industry and why?
Search the word "hacker" on Google images, and there you have it.
We hope you enjoyed the blog and got to know more about Delia. Stay tuned for the new blog in February, and find out more about hoodies behind Zerocopter!
